As part of the It services team, this manager will assists the IT staff with the maintenance and continual improvement of technology, telecommunications systems, networks and computers to ensure full and productive use of district technology, being part of a team that values collaboration and excellence.

Responsibilities in this role:

  • Perform maintenance and operational improvements to network, telecommunication, server, and desktop equipment and peripherals,
  • Ensure timely and thorough completion or resolution of high-profile and/or time-sensitive projects and issues, as instructed by the Director of Technology,
  • Serve as point of escalation to district IT staff in troubleshooting, changes, and enhancements to infrastructure, including but not limited to: LAN and WAN connectivity, firewall, router, switch, wireless, security, and content filtering systems,
  • Serve as point of escalation to district IT staff in troubleshooting, changes, and enhancements to server and communication systems, including but not limited to: file, print, web servers, telephony equipment and accessories, email and messaging systems,
  • Serve as point of escalation to district IT staff in troubleshooting, changes, and enhancements to desktop systems, including but not limited to: desktop deployment package creation and administration, user applications, applications provided internally or hosted externally, spam, virus, and malware control programs.,
  • Work with the Database Manager on a regular basis to provide assistance in reporting, database administration, and operational duties,
  • Maintain a list of hardware and software contacts and support resources, for purposes of contacting and working with vendors on technical issues,
  • Instruct district technology staff in the use, maintenance, and installation of district hardware and software,
  • Keep abreast of new technology-related information, innovative ideas, techniques, and software upgrades.

Requirements and skills:

  • Preferably graduate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, related majors such as Math, Physics,
  • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and software engineering with an aptitude for learning new technologies,
  • Experience with network infrastructure, including but not limited to: network routers and switches, wireless devices, VOIP phone systems, firewall and intrusion prevention security devices,
  • Experience with server and desktop operating systems, including but not limited to: Windows Server, Linux/Unix-based platforms, and Windows desktop OS,
  • Experience in establishing and sustaining excellent relationships with the extended team,
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
